Q. What is My Custom Cleanse?
A. My fellow nutritionists and I became so busy in our Hoboken practice that the waiting list grew longer and longer. To avoid turning people away we created www.MyCustomCleanse.com so clients could get their own plan/cleanse without having to sacrifice the very important aspect of customization that we have become known for in the practice.
After completing our fun and simple, yet very comprehensive questionnaire, we create a completely individualized food plan and hand pick nutrients based on your goals and health concerns. You can even keep up with your custom plan after the initial two weeks to continue seeing results and feeling great. It’s not just a fad diet but a sustainable plan (yes, with lots of healthy and real food, no fasting or juicing!) specific just for you. Best of all, its done completely online in the comfort of your own home.
Q. How is this different than picking up one of the many cleanses at the health food store?
A. That is a great question! The word cleanse has many meanings these days and people often associate it with juicing or specific types like a colon or liver cleanse. While there are many cleanses out there, we find that most people really don’t know which to do. This is part of the reason we created My Custom Cleanse. With our targeted questions, we are able to see which organs and which metabolic pathways are not performing optimally. Then we focus our cleansing efforts, using specific botanicals, vitamins, and minerals, to optimize exactly where you need it most. For some people it can be more for liver, or kidney, or digestion, etc. To really make your cleanse complete and comprehensive, we also create a personal food plan that will help optimize your cleansing results and personal goals. Our results lie in this specific personalization because everyone needs something different. You wouldn’t follow the same food plan as your dad or your significant other to lose weight and feel better, would you?
Q. What are some of the health concerns cleansing can help with?
A. Cleansing made specifically for you is fantastic for weight loss, digestion, energy, sleep, skin, and mood issues to name a few. Our questionnaire also asks clients for their specific concerns and goals that we tailor into each plan to help target what they would like to achieve as well.
Q. Is this cleanse good for losing baby weight? And is it safe for nursing moms?
A. YES! Because our cleanse is customized for each person, we can tailor it to be used by breastfeeding mothers. If you are a breastfeeding mom, note it in the additional information section of the questionnaire and we will customize a plan with that in mind by using supplements that are not only safe but also beneficial for breastfeeding.
Q. How did you get into this line of work?
A. As with many practitioners doing this work I was brought into it by first trying to help myself. I started having health issues in my early 20’s and wasn’t able to receive much help from traditional doctors. After a year of going from doctor to doctor feeling fatigued all the time, getting constant headaches, suffering with debilitating stomach pains and to top it off, rashes and acne, I found a clinical nutritionist. We worked on my diet and did various tests looking at many underlying metabolic pathways from which we discovered that I had mercury toxicity, candida, various vitamin deficiencies, and food sensitivities. It was a long road but we did lots of diet changes, cleansing, and vitamin supplementation then I saw a huge change in my health. I wanted to learn more to help myself but I realized that I can also help others after going back to school. I started by working with family and friends that asked for my help, then they referred their friends and before I knew it it turned into a full time practice. Now, 11 years later, we have 3 nutritionist in the practice and I feel truly blessed to be doing this work. It melts my heart every time a patient tells me how much better they feel and how their life took a turn for the better.
Q. You say that you’re able to get to the bottom of people’s health concerns, how do you approach that?
A. I approach this from a whole body perspective. We start with looking at what we put into our bodies because that changes everything. Our food goes into our stomach then creates our cells, our tissues, our organs, even influences our thoughts. So after all, you really are what you eat. However this is only the beginning. While diet is the foundation, just changing to healthier foods does not unfortunately guarantee their proper absorption and assimilation by your body, at least not initially. This is often because most of us have various imbalances that overtime prevent our body from functioning properly.
The best way to describe it is with our “bucket” analogy. Imagine that when we are born, we all get a bucket. Ideally, that bucket should be empty but often if your mother had certain health issues or problems in pregnancy, those may end up in your bucket. As we live our lives, most of us will undoubtedly experience stress, exposure to toxins from countess chemicals, heavy metals such as mercury, pollutants in our food, water, and environment, deficiencies in vitamins and minerals from improper eating, and inflammation from various foods just to name a few. Which all go into your bucket.
Just like we are all different, our buckets come in different shapes and sizes, and thus can fill up at different times. Once the bucket is filled to the top, when you put in one more thing in (this can be a very small thing like having an extra drink at a party), the bucket starts to overflow and symptoms develop.
I understand each person is extremely unique and customize each consultation. After taking a very detailed health history, I investigate the components of their “bucket”. With the use of our cutting-edge functional testing such as hair analysis, organic acids, food sensitivity panels, costisol testing, genetic testing, etc., we look for deficiencies, imbalances, excesses, toxins, and stresses so that we can leave no stone unturned and get to the bottom of where your health issues are stemming from.

Inna And LifeTree : My baby boy was born 6 months ago when I used Nikole’s placenta services. I felt great taking the pills, in fact I have been trying to stretch them out. Excited to use to the tincture next! I loved how easy it was to work with Nikole. She came to the hospital to pick up the placenta and I hardly had enough time to blink before she was back there with a beautifully wrapped bag that included my pills, tincture, instructions, and even included a super cute onesie for my son.
