Can I take placenta capsules if I am Jewish, are they considered kosher?

We have worked with many Jewish clients that keep kosher.  It has been said that because the placenta is altered in its form and placed into capsules it is not viewed as a food.  Such as taking a calcium supplement that contains oyster shells.  Rabbi Dovid Kornreich in 2010 stated it’s permitted by Jewish law and you can read his written statements here.  If you are Jewish and are interested in having your placenta encapsulated you can speak with your Rabbi about any concerns or special steps to take.
